I'm Wade Hammes, a senior front-end engineer for Skyword in Washington, D.C. Majority of my time is spent working with either React and Wordpress, focused on building performant user interfaces and scalable design systems.

I am the sole developer for both our Wordpress sites, maintaining both the Wordpress instance and the server upkeep. As a member of the engineering team, I focus my time building our in-house design system (React, styled-components, and Storybook). Code examples of the latter can be made avaible upon request.

    In 2018, TrackMaven launched their Ads product in our core application (which I've been working on as well), and I put together this page to highlight the $82M in Facebook advertising spend we analyzed from over 500 B2B and B2C brands between January - August 2018.

  • Trackmaven Marketing Site 2017 Redesign - Wordpress Development


    Beginning of January, I put aside my application work and began building our new forward facing Wordpress site, with a goal for performance and lean code. Utilizing new HTTP2 protocols and Cloudfront content delivery, as well as PostCSS generated CSS under 60kb sitewide, we were able to achieive a 50% faster site experience over our last site.

    As TrackMaven's sole front-end developer for two years before we built a team devoted to front-end architecture, I was tasked with rebuilding and maintaining the custom Wordpress theme for our massive marketing site. Built using CSS4 via Postcss.

    Concrete General, Inc.

    Concrete General, Inc is a Prime Contractor in the heavy highway civil construction industries. I delivered a complete UX and UI overhaul with a fully custom Wordpress theme, and a custom-built bid portal utilizing Mailgun subscriptions and bulk file downloads.

    Delmarva Site Development

    Delmarva is the premiere site development team in the DMV area, but before this website refresh, their online brand looked dated and lacked the funcationality to drive more proposal leads. I helped work them through a complete UX and UI overhaul with a fully custom Wordpress theme.

    Armigé is a booking agency based out of NYC focused on curating a lineup of DJs/Producer who bring life and journies to their sets. Some of their artists include Igor Vicente, Subb-an, German Brigante, Cry Baby, and more. The site is a custom Wordpress theme, utilizing Gigwell and Bands in Town APIs.

    Tortoise and the Snare

    Tortoise and the Snare was DC's premiere electronic music blog, founded by myself and two friends in early 2016, and closed in 2017 due to other endeavors. It saw tremendous growth within the local community of DC in that time, with nearly 10k traffic per month to its articles.

  • Experius VR - Web Design & Development

    Experius VR

    Experius VR approached me with the need to bring their new VR filming company to the web, and with it showcase some of the early VR potential web browsers use today. Using Three.js, I was able to bring them panoramic VR experiences right to the browser. The site is a custom Wordpress theme built using CSS4.

  • Heliskope - Web Design & Development


    Heliskope was a drone photography and videography endeavor between myself and my best friend. We closed up shop due to the heavy sanctions and permitting put on drone flying in the DC area (essentially a no-fly zone for 15 mile radius). Site is still live for nostalgia. Custom Wordpress (one of the first I ever did).

    CJ Foreign Car needed a new web presence to better convert from their Google Adwords campaign. I helped bring their CTA's up front, and gave them a clean, modern design. Designed/built in 2012, this was one of the first websites I built fron start to finish.

    Future Is Podcast

    Future Is Podcast is a podcast I ran with Ryan Bates. It paired both a journalistic approach with traditional podcasting and added a dash of art (each episode had a guest artist providing the artwork). Another project of mine that is no longer in service, and I have no archive of the episodes. Custom Wordpress build.

  • JobCompass Landing Page - PSD Design


    JobCompass needed better conversions from their landing pages during an ongoing email campaign. This page was so successful, they used it as the concept for their new homepage.
